A extended voyage through Australia was terminated days after the death of an older female passenger who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the group for a break. The liner left without her and went back after some time after the ship staff discovered the woman was not present.

A major hunt found her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the incident, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the shipping company said that passengers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he added that guests would be given a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the return journeys of the travelers via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also published an latest communication, and said they had "issued a notice to the Commander" preventing any new passengers from boarding the ship.

The official said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its return.

The liner originally sailed from Cairns on 24 October, and was just two days into the voyage at the point of the elderly woman's demise. The remote island was the initial destination on the voyage.

The offspring of the victim said that her loved ones was "stunned and saddened that the liner left the location after an scheduled tour without my mum".

Through her comments, she portrayed her parent as an "vigorous octogenarian" who was a member of a hiking group.

"Based on limited details we have been told, it seems that there was a failure of care and ordinary reasoning," she stated.
